Unable to Update Date

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your help with this. I'm running an AWS EC2 instance (ami-2bc05345) and the time has been drifting. I have a different server using the same instance where the time is fine. NTP seems to be installed and be running (I uninstalled it and reinstalled it via Yum, just to be sure). But the time is still off, and I'm not able to manually update it:

# date -s "07/16/2011 10:04:30"
Sat Jul 16 10:04:30 EDT 2011
# ntpdate pool.ntp.org
16 Jul 09:41:18 ntpdate[12726]: step time server 69.50.219.51 offset 1391.787636 sec
# date
Sat Jul 16 09:41:38 EDT 2011

Any thoughts? Thanks a lot!

Any thoughts on this issue?

Without seeing the contents of your /etc/ntp.conf, it is hard to offer any serious advise as to what is going on. By the way, suggest you use ntpd -q instead of ntpdate.

Thanks! No luck with ntpd -q, unfortunately.

Here're the contents of /etc/ntp.conf

Any thoughts here? Is everyone stumped? Or should I ask the question in a different way? Post the question in a different place?

Thanks a lot for your help.
