Hey, its me again MEGADRINK!!!! YARH!:D

I was reading up on Unix and found this little bit of text that went something like...

>Source/Wikipedia
"In 1990, the Open Software Foundationreleased OSF/1, their standard Unix implementation, based on Machand BSD. The Foundation was started in 1988 and was funded by several Unix-related companies that wished to counteract the collaboration of AT&T and Sun on SVR4. Subsequently, AT&T and another group of licensees formed the group "UNIX International" in order to counteract OSF. This escalation of conflict between competing vendors gave rise again to the phrase "Unix wars".

I was particulary intrigued by this 'Unix wars' bit. I so far dont know anything about it. But i wonderd wether some of my Unix.com buddies would know. And if they do, id rather talk about the juicier details. The stuff that you cant find. . . .:eek:

Please! Tell me about the Unix wars. :p

I've installed firewall builder into my operating system (PCLinuxOS) from the repository. Now I need to configure and make run firewall builder in the main server (production server) of my company.
The technique that I want to use is pushing the script from my laptop (where I've got the firewall builder installed) into the production server using the scp command.
Unfortunately, I do not have the appropriate steps to actually do so.
Could you please give me a link or show me step by step of how to configure firewall builder into the production server from my laptop?

Hallo Leute

Bevor ich mit meiner Frage anfange wollte ich sagen, dass ich ein Nagios System übernommen habe und ich überhaupt keine Einführung dafür bekommen habe. Also habt ein bisschen Geduld, Danke

Server 1 --> Nagios Cacti Server (Suse)
Server 2 --> Webserver (Ubuntu) Hier ist auch das nconf installiert

Ich möchte jetzt von server 2 auf server 1 verweissen!

Eintrag im nconf.php:

# The path to the Nagios binary. The binary is needed in order to run tests on the generated config.
# This path should either point to the original binary (if Nagios is installed on the same host),
# to a copy of the binary (copy it to the bin/ folder), or to a symbolic link. Make sure the binary
# is executable to the webserver user.
define('NAGIOS_BIN', '\\Server 1\usr\local\nagios\bin\nagios');

geht das so?

Bin leider auch kein Linux guru :(

I've just installed Centos 5.3 x86_64 into a CPU. I've done a yum update to update the version to Centos 5.4. I then installed mysql, php, apache and phpmyadmin into the system.

After the installation of phpmyadmin the screen suddenly goes blank, but the monitor is still on, and the cpu is also still on.

I offed the CPU and oned it back again. This time, the screen shows the booting of Centos then goes off.

Why is it like that and how do I resolve it? Is it a video card problem?
Thanks.

Hi to all! I 'm new in unix programing so... may be I decided a wrong tool to solve the problem but anyway... all road goes to rome jajaja.

My question is: There is any way to print date at the END clause of an AWK script. I mean, I'm writing a tool with AWK and the results are redirected to a file.
Some thing like:

BEGIN{
"date" |getline;
print >>TestLog.log

}

These lines works "sweetly" at the BEGIN clause... but it doesn't at the END clause.
I'm working on a HP-UX (unknow version :p)

I know that this is not actually a big challenge (jajaja) but I googled as much I could without results.

How could I log the end of the AWK script execution?

Thanks matrixmadhan for you support :)
