James Kobielus (Network World) has written an August 17th article on CEP, Complex event processing: still on the launch pad, When will CEP take off? The article does not do a very good job representing the current state of CEP or the CEP customer base. In fact, in one particular quote from the article, James is wrong.
The errors is in this Computer World quote:

“Unfortunately, the group (the Event Processing Technical Society) has not yet produced a public draft of any such framework, nor has it attempted to reach out to groups such as the Organization for Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS), which has developed a CEP-relevant standard: WS-Notifications, which supports event-driven, notification-based SOA interaction patterns.”

While I agree with the first part, the second part is completely false:

I personally invited Jamie Clark from OASIS to speak at the last meeting of the EPTS in Redwood City, CA. Below is a quote from the agenda and presentation summary of the last meeting:

So, you can see, we have done much more than “reaching out” to OASIS.
