New machine, new install

Hi all,

Just got some new hardware and I'm planning on installing FreeBSD on it. I just like to know what problems might occur with the choose hw.

AMD Opteron Dual Core 2.2Ghz
Nvidia Quadro FX 1400
Tyan S2865 motherboard
250GB SATA HDD

And 2 Eizo 19" LCD monitors.

This machine will be used for developing php and sql.

I can't see anything that looks problematic in terms of the hardware.

I used to run almost the same hardware with FreeBSD 6.0 on it, and I haven't had critical issues installing and using it. FreeBSD 6.2 seems to be stable release, as far as I can see. Go ahead and let us know if any issues.

Intel server board fan speed

Hi guys,
I have a server mobo intel se7230nh1-e. The chassis is a Sr1475nh1-e.

Intel® Entry Server System SR1475NH1-E - Technical Product Specification [PDF]
Intel® Entry Server Board SE7230NH1-E - Intel® Entry Server Board SE7230NH1-E support

I'm trying to run FreeBSD 6.2 on it but the system fans are always at full speed and make some serious noise. I'm running a GENERIC kernel.

What do you guys think I should do so the temperature is correctly monitored ? Do you need more info on my setup ?

Thanks. Oli.
