Tape Drive Problem.

Dear all,

I have ultriam3 tape. It is connected my LPAR. I have that the Sl.Nos. and slot number. but run the cfmgr i am not getting the tape drive.
I have fired the command lsdev -Cc tape but no reply.
how will i configure the tape in LPAR?

Please suggest. It is very urgent.

Given that the LPAR has the slot and cfgmgr does not detect the tape I'd suspect that the LPAR lacks a suitable driver for that particular tape. Use
# lsdev -PH
to see all predefined (supported) devices. If your tape is not among them, install the correct driver from the AIX media or from the tape vendor's AIX driver cd.

I have resolved that proble.

I removed the SCSI bus in desired mode.

Then I added once again.

Now it is working fine.

In case of any query on the same, pleask raise the question.

So the LPAR did not own the slot while it was defined as desired? Did you change the slot's ownership while the LPAR was up and running?
