Do you get the same path/file shown when you do a
Code:
which du

in ksh and bash/sh?

found the problem, it is permission on the home directory of the user that cause /bin/pwd to have permission denied error which must have been called by du.

Zaxxon, that guy posted his question in several newsgroups. Last message was that he found the prob but he did neither give any clues to what it was nor how it was solved finally. So helping that guy out appears to be a complete waste of time.

Actually he had tried to post the answer here 25 minutes before you castigated him. His post went on the moderation queue and I just approved it rendering it visible. I think it was flagged as possible spam because its a brief message by a new user with a string of characters which could be a disguised url.
