AIX 5 on power3

Hi All,

Can AIX 5x run power3-II cpu? I have an old server that my boss still wants to upgrade from 4x to 5x.

Please advise and thank you in advance.

For AIX 5.1 just about anything will do, even old MCA boxes, but 5.1 is long out of support.
The PCI machines all run 5.2 but that goes out of support this year.
For 5.3 and 6.1 you need a chrp system.
run uname -p to see if you have a chrp system or post the machine type and model (from prtconf | head or similar) and we'll look up what you can run.
