Why AIX?

Hey Guys,
Can anyone of you tell that Why AIX is getting boomed in the Market .. what are the salient features of it .. why are People now a days migrating towards this Server . and how is the Future for this server Operating system ... Why should we use AIX rather than other servers

Are you asking about the operating system (AIX) or the hardware (server) ?

Either way, if there's any buzz about it, I've missed it.

AIX has been the IBM standard unix OS for their systems for dozens of years.

I think it's pretty rock-solid. But I don't know if that's because of the OS, the hardware, or a combination.

They say if you can't afford mainframe (or AS/400) and you have a big database then it's the best OS and hardware. Many big oracle and db2 database are running on it. But if you have a thousand user, you really need mainframe. It's business, I guess.

Of course OS/400 and DB2 are integrated and that's a big difference.

Good to hear that AIX is booming, the only problem is that in North America, there's too few AIX administrator.
