search text string

hi,

i know this trick:

find / -name '*' -exec grep 'string to search' {} \;

but it won't show the path/file where it came from.

how can i make the path/file to show up.

I got it. you have to output in a file and view it. like this: find / -name '*' -print -exec grep 'string to search' {} \; > /save.txt

You can also search with the following command

Quote:

find . -type f -print | xargs grep 'string to search'
