SFTP in batch Mode

I am very new to AIX environment came from AS/400. I need to automate the file transfer using SFTP. The remote location admin provided us user ID and password with folder details. I need to include the script to transfer the file from our local machine to this location. I am familiar with FTP details

FTP -n host name
user userID passwd
script
bye
quit

I am so confused with SFTP. I browsed google for the batch mode solution. I am so confused with the answers. Can you help us with SFTP batch mode. It looks like we need to create keys and Remote location also has to generate key and we need to exchange the keys and then we can use SFTP - batchfile user@hostname syntax.

I am not sure whether whether my assumption is correct. If we have to generate keys what is the procedure for generating keys and registering remote key on our local machine. where do we find manual for this. we are using IBM AIX server
