Oracle problem

Hi there. I am a new SA and unfortunately I have taken over after several folks in IT left in a huff. RS/6000 Cluster crashed before I was hired and I got everything going except the backups. They were using an old version of Veritas (3.4) and I was unable to get it working and it is no longer supported. They do not wish to get current so I just added a backup command to one of the dba scripts that where running in the crontab. The main DB is performing a dump three times a week and Veritas was backing up the directory automatically. I have it setup to backup the directory using a backup command , but there is also an oracle program called Rcat that is still running and producing errors (Most likely because veritas isn't doing anything) My question is this. Since I am not running Veritas, do I still need RCAT for restores? the RCAT database appears to be intact. Another question. Since I am no longer using Veritas do I need this RCAT maintenance script? Its target is my production DB.

Thanks,

John
