AIX 5.3 errpt full of message: DISK OPERATION ERROR
Hi All,
Can anyone explain me the meanning of the following errors: LABEL: SC_DISK_ERR2 IDENTIFIER: B6267342 Description DISK OPERATION ERROR Probable Causes DASD DEVICE Failure Causes DISK DRIVE DISK DRIVE ELECTRONICS Recommended Actions PERFORM PROBLEM DETERMINATION PROCEDURES Other than SC_DISK_ERR2, I get also a lot of SC_DISK_ERR4. That disk is failing due to a hardware problem and will need to be replaced. There is a line where it says "TEMP" or "PERM" to tell you if it is a temporary or permanent error, but if you are getting them frequently it doesn't matter which type, the disk is toast.
If you don't have it mirrored, you probably will want to make a backup of it ASAP since it could fail and become unusable at any point.
