Thanks for the clarifications Robin.

As regards the discussion around whether the increase should be done all at once, or in smaller steps, I note the following:

In the man page for chfs it says
Quote:
5. During the period that the shrink or extend is running, the
file system is not accessible. Large file systems with
inline logs might not be usable for as long as several
minutes. The inline log must be completely reformatted .
So, it may well be advisable to do the change incrementally in some situations - particularly on live production servers.

LOL, that it is.
Still, give it ten years, and we'll all be scoffing at any system with a mere 15TB.

Either that, or the machines will have won.

Quick update:

The filesystem increase went very smoothly. I did it in a number of steps, increasing in size as each step completed with no problems or delays.
Smallest increase was 1TB, largest increase was 5TB.

All of them completed very quickly, longest was probably around 20 seconds.
