Hi,
I have a IBM box (RS/6000) Model No.7026-6H1, currently running AIX 4.3 and now I want to upgrade in AIX 5.3 version. Please advice Is this model supports the AIX 5.3 version and what precautions we need to take before migration Best Regds Bhupal Singh |

A 6H1 does support 5.3. But type --> bootinfo -p <-- from a command line to confirm this for yourself. A response of "chrp" will confirm 5.3 is suppported.
As far as precautions, there is lots to consider. I'd suggest you start with a careful read of the AIX 5.3 Release Notes. They can be found here --> http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoce...53relnotes.htm |

Hi, Thanks for help.
The output of bootinfo -p is as below.... root@ibm26:/ # bootinfo -p chrp As per the Release Notes IBM Model 7026-6H1 supports AIX 5.3 version but we must upgrade the system firmware "version CM040712" before installing AIX 5.3. Now please help me How can I upgrade firmware ? Is it only one package or bunch of packages? Thanks Bhupal |

You'll need to navigate thru IBM's web site to get firmware updates & instructions.
You can start here--> http://www-03.ibm.com/servers/eserve...dinghwaix.html then --> select MICROCODE UPDATES then --> "7026-6H1" from the drop down menu, then --> DESC for a description of the latest firmware for your box. If the instructions aren't clear, then you really should open an incident with IBM Support...... and ask for clarification of any steps in the process. |
