Logins hang updating .Xauthority file

Folks,

I am having a minor problem on a new AIX install. I have AIX installed in and LPAR on a p550 and everything works fine with the exception of users who log in with ssh.

It seems that when a user has X11 forwarding enabled in their ssh client and they connect to the server, logins hang. A CTRL+C will take the user to the shell prompt and if they delete the .Xauthority file, the next login works with no problem.

I'm using OpenSSH_3.8.1p1. AIX 5.3.

Has anyone seen this before or have any ideas how to fix this.

What's the file permissions on the authority file? We saw a similar problem which ended up being an odd default umask setting resulting in an authority file that couldn't be written too.

Cheers,

I have been running a similar configuration (same version of AIX, OpenSSL) for about 10 months without any problems. However, when the AIX patches IY66513 and IY70159 were applied, I started having this same issue.

Have you found any resolution to this?

Our problem was traced to an error introduced in ML03.
