HBA Adaptor and setup
Hi,
2 AIX 4.3 (6f1's) at ML 10 @32 bit. Systems being upgraded to fiber-channel. Got LP10000E from the purchase department. (now our pdep is not that good in getting us info as to what they ordered). This is what i got from the box containing the cards (LP10000E BG41696552 FC PCI/PCI-X HBA 33/66/100/133 MHZ) Went ahead with inserting the new cards successfully on both the systems. once rebooted, was not able to see the new adaptors. executed a cfgmgr and got the following message cfgmgr: 0514-621 WARNING: The following device packages are required for device support but are not currently installed. devices.pci.fibre-channel:devices.pci.df1000fa:devices.pci.df1000fa Firstlty i cannot locate df1000fa anywhere. Not there on Install CD. secondly df1000fa on most goog searches is stated as 64 bit support.... would like all the help in getting df10000fa for AIX 4.3 Thnx |

okie..It may have been a confusing question
The emulex LP10000E for some reasons as per our EMC folks is a big NO NO for AIX 4.3.3. df1000fa is a fileset required for 6239 HBA types, what I should have been getting if i had a right card type should have been a df1000f7a For our F50's, they only support Feature #6227 and 6228 HBA's which are withdrawn from market. The 6F1 supports the feature #6239 HBA. It requires AIX 5.1 or higher, and if attaching a device or switch with a SC type fiber connector(s), use of an LC-SC 50 Micron Fiber Converter Cable (Feature #2456) or a LC-SC 62.5 Micron Fiber Converter Cable (Feature #2459) is required. This also support Features 6227 and 6228 w/ AIX 4.3.3 only available used. gluck |
