Add PCI ethernet card?
Hi everyone, I recently inherited an IBM RS/6000 43P 150, and it appears that the on board ethernet is dead. Can I put in a PCI ethernet card and use that as the default ethernet connection (as opposed to the one on the motherboard)? If so, what type of card can I use and how does one configure this in SMIT? Sorry for such a dumb question but this is pretty new to me... Thanks for the help. Jeff

Thanks Manu,
Can I use any PCI ehternet card or does it have to be an IBM card. Specifically I have a 3COM Fast Etherlnk XL PCI 10/100 BASE TX (3C905B-TX) adapter I wanted to use. I downloaded drivers for this card from IBM but the README states that if the card isn't IBM's version it won't work... I guess I could just try it anyway. Have any ideas? Thanks. Jeff |
