[solved] ldap.client.rte

Hi all,

does anybody know where in AIX 7.1 the fileset ldap.client.rte is located or a similar one? I couldn't find it on the Base/Installation media nor on the Expansion Pack media.
One of the binaries in the old package (which came with the installation media) on AIX 5.3 was ldapsearch, but it seems some things like mksecldap is now included in bos.rte.security. But still no luck with the set mentioned above.
You get an error message when you issue a client setup with mksecldap -c ... which is:

Code:
mksecldap: ldap.client.rte version 3.2 or higher is not installed.
Client presetup check failed.

There is some client sets for ITDS on the Expansion Pack media, but these are just the max_crypto sets and no ldap client base sets.

Thanks in advance^^

Sounds like and old name:

you will need the following IBM filesets available from the AIX installation media:
For AIX 5.3, they are:
ldap.client.rte
ldap.client.adt
For AIX 6.1 they are:
idsldap.clt32bit61.rte
idsldap.clt_max_crypto32bit61.rte
idsldap.cltbase61.adt
idsldap.cltbase61.rte

For 7.1, I googled up various stuff in boulder:

I found some of those too, but they are all regarding the IBM Tivoli Directory Server (ITDS) and Client. The client I am talking about came just with the OS and was no separate product. ITDS is a separate product afaik.

For AIX 5.3 you also need
  • ldap.max_crypto_client
as well as the gsksa and gskta packages, which are still available in AIX 7.

With the AIX 7 installation discs comes no package that contains the string "ldap" in it's name or description. With the Expansion Pack you only get:

Code:
idsldap.clt_max_crypto32bit62 6.2.0.10
Directory Server - 32 bit Client (SSL)
idsldap.clt_max_crypto64bit62 6.2.0.10
Directory Server - 64 bit Client (SSL)
idsldap.srv_max_cryptobase64bit62 6.2.0.10
Directory Server - base Server (SSL)
idsldap.webadmin_max_crypto62 6.2.0.10
Directory Server - Web Administration (SSL)

so
  • idsldap.clt32bit61.rte
  • idsldap.cltbase61.adt
  • idsldap.cltbase61.rte
would be missing still and had to be ordered or downloaded separate, just to have your AIX server to able to become an LDAP client, which I doubt (I hope ) it is not the way it works now.

As said, I only noticed that some packages have been forged together in bos.rte.security, but the LDAP client itself is missing somehow.

I found nothing on the web that explains what happenes with the ldap.client.rte package, ie. if there is only that ITDS client left for use. I opened up a call with our support to clarify it and will let you guys know.

Edit:
I also found this one, which points to the ITDS client sets also:
http://www.aixmind.com/?p=1847

Waiting for the support to call back.

An update: The new fileset for ldap.client.rte is indeed idsldap.clt32bit62. It was not on our NIM-server since somebody had problems copying all filesets from the installation DVDs and I haven't been told Sorry for the noise.
The use of the ITDS-LDAP Client 64-bit did not work together with mksecldap. I had to use the 32-bit on a 64-bit system.
