Hi,

I am trying to open a console window through the HMC. When I choose to do this the toolbar at the top left of the HMC screen show 'Open Terminal Window'. However when I click on it I am getting the error -

"The tsak you want to switch to is an applet based task, which dowes not support 'Switch To'. Please use the window switching capabilities for local windows to 'Switch To' the window for this task ACT01513

A couple of points -
I have no Popup Blocker enabled

I have the latest Java 1.6 ( patchset 18 ) installed on my terminal

I am directly attached to the same network segment that the HMC is on ( therefore no corporate firewall is inbetween my terminal and the HMC )

The problem occurs in IE Explorer or Firefox

Any thoughts ?

This is not much help to your exact problem... But as an OS/X Safari user I changed to the ssh session for console access once the browser-based HMCs came in.

Provided you have access / ssh enabled... you can ssh into the HMC and use the vtmenu command to pick a console to attach to.

You can also put your personal key on the HMC for a password-less login (once again provided that you have ssh enabled, and your security policy allows for this).
