What does it mean by 2 cpu cores, 3 cpu cores? Does it mean 2 separate cpus or what is it exactly ?

Kindly explain a bit in detail.

Thanks

IBM considers a core as a CPU.

CPU = Processor is divided into 2 cores,

you can search on google for IBM Core

Some manufacturers join multiple CPUs in a single chip while other have multiple CPUs already located on the same die. Doesn't make a difference from the outside though. It's a single chip that contains more than a CPU. Eg: UltraSPARC T2 contains up to 8 cores.
