Question Configuration of snmpv3 in AIX

Hi,

I am new to AIX and have been assigned a task to configure the snmp on aix which can talk to our management server. Any help in relation to this will be greatly appriciated.

Cheers,

SNMPv3 is provided in AIX only since v5.2 and is controlled by two configuration files: /etc/snmpdv3.conf for the agent and /etc/clsnmp.conf for the SNMP manager. You might want to read the article SNMP for network management at IBMs AIX documentation web site.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your answer to my query Bakunin. I have visited that page and have tried to configure the snmpv3 according to the instructions provided in the document. Below is the error message when I try to run the walk command. Could you please advise as to why this error is coming up. Isthis something to do with the firewall.

root@hays-syd-lpar-01> clsnmp walk icmp
Timeout after 3 seconds.
clsnmp: 1473-402 Error return from SnmpRecvMsg().

Do you have this APAR?

IBM IZ08222: CLSNMP:BIND(FD)::THE SOCKET NAME IS NOT AVAILABLE ON THIS SYSTEMAPPLIES TO AIX 6100-01 - United States

Try with the -h option and check your host name resolution, etc.
