How to upgrade AIX5.3TL6-07 to AIX5.3TL8-04?

Hello All,

After creating lpp_source/spot from AIX 5.3TL6-07 DVD on the NIM(AIX6.1), I went online and download the fix pack for reaching TL8-04. (it was less than 200Mgegs total)

then I did define a newer lpp_source530TL8-04 via a copy from the older lpp_source530TL6-07 (I diduse a command like nim -o define source... as found into the NIM AtoZ redbook)

After that I did update the lpp_source530TL8-04 by pointing to the directory that I download. It took few minutes to apply it and did return ok

Then I did load a new lpars from those newly lpp/spot

But after completion

oslevel -s still show 5300-06-07

What did I miss here?
And how would I go and update the other lpars

Thanks for your help

Sylvain

Seems you have just downloaded the TL08 to TL08 SP4 update and not TL08 as well.

TL08 sp4 is 252,277,248 bytes
TL08 update from TL06 is 1,970,550,272 bytes
so your download should have been 2,222,827,520 bytes

Go and download it again and this time specify "Yes, include Technology Level 5300-08 with the Service Pack "

Then re-do the update with smitty update_all
