Migrating from HP-UX 11 to HP-UX 11.i?
Hi,
I want to Migrate my machine from HP-UX 11 to HP-UX 11.i, regarding this i would like to know the difference and the advances b/w these two. If anyone have cookbook HP-UX 11 to HP-UX 11.i, then provide the link to me. Thanks in Advance. Sarwan |

utilized the following as a guide back in 04...It took a total of 7hrs on a v2250.
I now prefer a new install and restoring or maybe vgimports (depending on your storage structure). hope it helps, manny HPUX 11i Upgrade Plan Document your server information: network interface information lanscan, ifconfig lanX, netstat -i sendmail configuration special environment executables, like "lp" 1. make sure you have plenty of available FREE space, refer to read-me document. (currently available on box): 1137594 24% / 374137 17% /stand 1917238 59% /var 2940422 25% /usr 2394869 0% /tmp 3276558 16% /opt swapinfo Kb Kb Kb PCT START/ Kb TYPE AVAIL USED FREE USED LIMIT RESERVE PRI NAME dev 2048000 0 2048000 0% 0 - 1 /dev/vg00/lvol2 dev 17670144 0 17670144 0% 0 - 0 /dev/vga70/swap1 2. Stop ALL applications 3. Stop Listeners 4. Stop NFS client a. /sbin/init.d/nfs.client stop 5. Mount HPUX 11i Disc 1 6. Start install procedure removed any previous state files that may exist: # rm /var/adm/sw/defaults # rm /var/adm/sw/tmp/update-ux/state* a. mount /cdrom and perform an swinstall and select/install "Update-UX" upgrade utility swinstall and follow Instillation instructions. # swinstall -r -s /cdrom Update-UX \ > \@ /var/adm/sw/update-ux.root 7. Now you can run the "update-ux" command for the version you are installing # update-ux -s /cdrom -x autoreboot=true HPUX11i-OE took default on merging lan drivers... our v2250 took 7hours to upgrade to 11i...all cd's where requested. 8. Install Mirror Disk using swinstall and Application CD's you may need to call license.hp.com to get new code password 9. Install Online JFS using swinstall (If licensed) and Application CD's you may need to call license.hp.com to get new code password 10. Install Glance using swinstall and Application CD's you may need to call license.hp.com to get new code password 11. Install Quality Pack Bundle/Udates - GOLDQPK11i using swinstall and supportPLUS CD's This will install both GOLDBASE11i and GOLDAPPSlli 12. Test/Verify sendmail, lp, network and other server/environment settings |
