Hiya folks,
Just a quick question. When I am ready to download Fedora core 4, do I need to download all 4 ISO files? Or just one, I think myself it would be all 4 but dont want to sit and wait around if I only need to download one. Also after downloading the Iso files, do I burn one file to one CD or all files into one CD? By the way - thanks for all your help so far, really glad I joined this forum - I feel closer to my Linux goal already M.P |

Hi MP,
Welcome to the unix forums, You will need to download all the ISOs, and burn a disk for each one. Also please do not continue to start new threads for each part of the same general question. All of your redhat/fedora posts so far could have been posted in one single thread. |

Hiya folks,
Ok I am the FTP site for Fedora core 4. My problem now is there seems to be 2 different sets of ISO files which are :- FC4-i386-SRPMS-disc1.iso 07-Jun-2005 03:58 612M FC4-i386-SRPMS-disc2.iso 07-Jun-2005 03:59 612M FC4-i386-SRPMS-disc3.iso 07-Jun-2005 04:00 612M FC4-i386-SRPMS-disc4.iso 07-Jun-2005 04:01 612M FC4-i386-disc1.iso 07-Jun-2005 03:54 635M FC4-i386-disc2.iso 07-Jun-2005 03:55 638M FC4-i386-disc3.iso 07-Jun-2005 03:56 638M FC4-i386-disc4.iso 07-Jun-2005 03:57 630M FC4-i386-rescuecd.iso 07-Jun-2005 03:52 84M SHA1SUM So I'm a bit confused which ones to download. Also Bittorrent doesnt seem to work with the downloads. Is this because Bittorrent is only for files that are uploaded to be downloaded using Bittorrent? Will I need to download a download manager like Flash Get or something? Sorry for being so dum and asking loads of stuff |

The ones without SRPMS they are the source code for the packages.
If your connections is reliable you don't need to get a manager, otherwise it's probably a good idea. |

Yeah my connection is preety stable. I have cable running at 1MB, so I dont think it will break and I have downloaded large files (700MB+) before and it was fine and that was without a download manager.
Thats me started the downloads now woohooo! Thanks again! M.P |

Read my reply in your earlier post regarding ubuntu Linux. It gives you a bootable CD that can run Linux without installing over your Windows XP. Try it first and save yourself hours of reinstallation if you really don't care for Linux on your PC.
