in case the "empty" lines might contain blank characters:

grep -v '^[<spc><tab>]*$' Yourfile > correctfile

or (this one's for RishiPahuja):

sed '/^[<spc><tab>]*$/d' Yourfile > correctfile

(replace "<spc>" and "<tab>" with space and tab characters)
