Top Forums UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers How to concatenate all files. Post 81620 by s80bob on Monday 22nd of August 2005 04:20:40 PM

Maybe zazzybob's earlier post would work for me. He wrote this code earlier:

$ cd /path/to/files
$ files=*
$ cat $files > bigfile

So if I had several unknown file names in a local working directory I could copy them all to one big file with the above?

The execution of commands on remote systems takes place in an execution directory known to the UUCP subsystem. All files required for the execution are put into this directory unless they already reside on that machine. Therefore, the simple file name (without path or machine reference) must be unique within the request. The following command does work: but the command: works (if is a permitted command).
