Unix Box crash

Hi,

I had witnessed my Enterprise machine 2500 series crashing last weekend. What is the command that I should use to bring the system to single user mode as the system is not responding to any of the commands ...Am still living as this is a test system..
System was running on the run level 3.

Kindly advise..

Thanks

You can put the CD in the cd-rom and boot with "boot -s" or you couldn't Stop + A and type "boot -s"

How far does the boot get when you turn the system on?

A little help to find the problem

Make a full diagnostics enabled startup of the E250.
You can turn the keyswitch to the right position (I think , better you look in the manual, sunsolve.sun.com) so that the diagnostics are enabled. Connect a console (you wont see anything on the monitor, cause the graphic driver isnt loaded at that time, if you have a vga card anyway) and watch the output.
Maybe its reporting problems

try to install a stable solaris and run the SunVTS test , get it at SUN site.
Or: setup a other machine as jumpstart server, customize your install to include the SUNWvts package, the boot your server over net.
Let this test run for at least 24 hours, since it isnt a productive server, nobody will care about.
