Add PCI ethernet card?

Hi everyone, I recently inherited an IBM RS/6000 43P 150, and it appears that the on board ethernet is dead. Can I put in a PCI ethernet card and use that as the default ethernet connection (as opposed to the one on the motherboard)? If so, what type of card can I use and how does one configure this in SMIT? Sorry for such a dumb question but this is pretty new to me... Thanks for the help. Jeff

Hi,

Stop the server..Insert the card and check for the driver files asked...
Or run cfgmgr and check for the drivers installed...if not, it will display the
drivers to be installed...

Thanks

Thanks Manu,

Can I use any PCI ehternet card or does it have to be an IBM card. Specifically I have a 3COM Fast Etherlnk XL PCI 10/100 BASE TX (3C905B-TX) adapter I wanted to use. I downloaded drivers for this card from IBM but the README states that if the card isn't IBM's version it won't work... I guess I could just try it anyway. Have any ideas? Thanks.

Jeff
