We are trying to setup an impact printer - Tally t2030 on our unix server digital unix 4.0D.
It skips half the first page of every print both from our application and the unix level. It starts the 2nd half of the page at the top of the 2nd physical paper in the printer. The printer uses continuous feed 3 part paper. We do not see a setting on the printer itself to adjust page top. I can not find anything in the man pages on setting page top in a print. Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and I worked on a big mainframe, we had to code into reports a page top eject. Does anyone know of a similar thing in Unix? Anyone have any experience with setting up an impact printer? |

thanks for the google links. We had only the quick start manual. We contacted tally support they did not point us to the manual.
Sincei posted this,,,, I tried the pr command from unix with a page eject, page length 46. I sent it a file with line numbers. It completely drops line 1-46, - the logical first page - started at the top of the first page on logical line 47, printed half of logical page on half of a physical page, then ejected to the 2nd page and printed ok from there... 46lines to a page and correct page ejects. so I am thinking it something we are missing on the unix lprsetup. the printer is on our network with a jet direct and working from a vax/vms system. |

My guess is that the problem is in the printer itself. You need to program the page length into the printer. Those links tell you how.
