setting up a network printer

Hello people,

I'm attempting to setup a printer connection to a printer running off the NT printer server, but with little success.

I'm using the admintool, go to ADD printers...where it offers 'local' and 'access to printer'. I have chosen the 'access to printer' option as i'm attempting to connect to a printer on the network.

I add the printer name, and print server name and save without problem. When i then try to print nothing comes out.

I have also attempted to set it up as a local printer, but with little success too.

I presume i'm missing something simple, but cant see what.

your help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Richard

Try with this ...

echo "IP_of_print_server name_of_print_server" >> /etc/hosts

and then use lpadmin.

example:

lpadmin -p printer-name -s system-name[!printer-name]

Regards. Hugo
