Connect: Network is unreachable

I am running RH7.3 on a compaq presario box. The network card is a Linksys one. I am only able to communicate with the local network (only the local IPs are accessible). When I try to ping another box I get a "Connect: Network is unreachable" message. What could be the problem.

Thanks in advance!

What is your netmask (use ifconfig -a to see it). Is it the same as the other boxes on your network?

Another thing to check is your /etc/defaultrouter file. Does this have the correct IP address for your router?

Exclamation

I got this to work after I reinstalled the OS. The card was detected fine and it was up and running in no time.
