Folks, I really appreciate the kudos. Thanks!

But if everyone who finds this script useful was to post a thank-you note, we will get a lengthy thread with little content.

So let's keep the thread useful. If you have a question, suggestion, bug report, etc, go ahead and post. But no more thank-you's. I know it's a cool script.

But I will add a personal note: No one will benefit from this effort as much as I did. I learned a lot as I solved the problems that I encountered writing this script. What's more, I too wanted a recursive ftp script. And not too surprisingly, this one meets my needs perfectly.

I run the following command in some of my folders... and ended up with a huge mess!! find . -type f -exec perl -e 's/blabla/zzzxxxx/gi' -p -i.bak {} \; I had to kill the process and later when I checked with one of my folders.. ls vaditerm.dt.bak vaditerm.dt.bak.bak... (2 Replies)

recursive rcp

I wrote a shell script (AIX) to extract the file "/rep1/toto" from all the hosts referred in a list and send them to one local directory named ~/$host-$file with the hostname as prefix rcp -p user@host:/rep1/$file ~/$host-$file where file = toto ==> it works ! In the ls command, -t option and -R option dont work simultaneously. ls -t ---> lists the files with sorting based on file date ls -R ---> lists the files recursively. How to make utilize both in the same command.? I want to sort the recursive files listing.. (1 Reply)

Recursive SFTP

Hello, I need to transfer files from Serve1 to Server2. Previously I was using scp command. Now I have to use sftp (due to audit issues). The problem with sftp is (atleast to my level of knowledge) we cannot transfer dirs (and files within that dir). Is there a way to solve this? Looks like... (1 Reply)

dh_bugfiles [-A] [debhelperoptions] DESCRIPTION
dh_bugfiles is a debhelper program that is responsible for installing bug reporting customization files (bug scripts and/or bug control files and/or presubj files) into package build directories. FILES
debian/package.bug-script This is the script to be run by the bug reporting program for generating a bug report template. This file is installed as usr/share/bug/package in the package build directory if no other types of bug reporting customization files are going to be installed for the package in question. Otherwise, this file is installed as usr/share/bug/package/script. Finally, the installed script is given execute permissions. debian/package.bug-control It is the bug control file containing some directions for the bug reporting tool. This file is installed as usr/share/bug/package/control in the package build directory. debian/package.bug-presubj The contents of this file are displayed to the user by the bug reporting tool before allowing the user to write a bug report on the package to the Debian Bug Tracking System.
