Is there an IP Address on the pHysical Adapt when you run the mkvdev command?

And yes the port needs to be configured in promiscuous mode.

If you show us the command you are running and the current state of the device we may be able to help you.

PowerVM SEA etherchannel performance ?

Hello, POWER7 machine. 4 x 1Gbit port ethernet adapter is dedicated to vios. 8023ad etherchannel is created using those 4 ports. Etherchannel adapter is shared to lpars using SEA.
