Hi.

Using the perl utility align on the data in file data1:
Code:
% align -s '/\|' -ar -j_ -g3 data1
     123         456    789        0
67345123               3455        1
 7124563   432343414          345324

One can select the field separation pattern as "|', the alignment is right, the output separation is done with space characters, and the gutter is 3 spaces, so that numbers can be easily compared. There are generally appropriate defaults for these, but you can change them if desired, as illustrated

calibrate_ppa [options] DESCRIPTION
Produces various PixMap (PPM) files used for calibrating pnm2ppa. This manual page was written for the Debian GNU/Linux distribution because the original program does not have a manual page. NOTE
The size of a full-page PixMap is 100MB!!. These PixMaps should be piped directly to pnm2ppa, except in the case of the -g option, where the PixMap should be viewed or printed by other means. OPTIONS
