Solaris11: Permission issues with auto-scrub ZFS pool
Short version:
fails saying I do not have permission to perform that action. Apparently scrub is not one of the pfexec allowed actions. Any idea on how to get around it?
Long version:
I got tired of manually running scrubs and am trying to set it to happen automatically.
Seems simple enough to set up a cron job for it (once google informed me of the existance of cron :P).
Wanting to test it out and isolate issues and such, and based on my experience I figured the best way to do so is to use a script.
Simply create a new file /usr/scripts/scrub.sh which contains:
But that doesn't work, no permissions. I verified it by trying just typing
by itself.
I could modify the script to remove pfexec instances and then I just need to schedule the script to run as an administrator. Which I don't know how to do.
Hi all
I plan to install Solaris 10U6 on some SPARC server using ZFS as root pool, whereas I would like to keep the current setup done by VxVM:
- 2 internal disks: c0t0d0 and c0t1d0
- bootable root-volume (mirrored, both disks)
- 1 non-mirrored swap slice
- 1 non-mirrored slices for Live... (1 Reply)
I created a pool the other day. I created a 10 gig files just for a test, then deleted it.
I proceeded to create a few files systems. But for some reason the pool shows 10% full, but the files systems are both at 1%? Both files systems share the same pool.
When I ls -al the pool I just... (6 Replies)
I need to migrate an existing raidz pool to a new raidz pool with larger disks. I need the mount points and attributes to migrate as well. What is the best procedure to accomplish this. The current pool is 6x36GB disks 202GB capacity and I am migrating to 5x 72GB disks 340GB capacity. (2 Replies)
Other than export/import, is there a cleaner way to rename a pool without unmounting de FS?
Something like, say "zpool rename a b"?
Thanks. (2 Replies)
installed Solaris 11 Express on my server machine a while ago. I created a Z2 RAID over five HDDs and created a few ZFS filesystems on it.
Once I (unintentionally) managed to fill the pool completely with data and (to my surprise) the filesystems stopped working - I could not read/delete any... (3 Replies)
I messed up my pool by doing zfs send...recive So I got the following :

I have installed FreeBSD onto a raw image file using QEMU Emulator successfully. I have formatted the image file using the ZFS file system (ZFS POOL).

pfksh
pfexec(1) User Commands pfexec(1)NAME
pfexec, pfsh, pfcsh, pfksh - execute a command in a profile
SYNOPSIS
/usr/bin/pfexec command
/usr/bin/pfexec -P privspec command [ arg ...]
/usr/bin/pfsh [ options ] [ argument ...]
/usr/bin/pfcsh [ options ] [ argument ...]
/usr/bin/pfksh [ options ] [ argument ...]
DESCRIPTION
The pfexec program is used to execute commands with the attributes specified by the user's profiles in the exec_attr(4) database. It is
invoked by the profile shells, pfsh, pfcsh, and pfksh which are linked to the Bourne shell, C shell, and Korn shell, respectively.
Profiles are searched in the order specified in the user's entry in the user_attr(4) database. If the same command appears in more than one
profile, the profile shell uses the first matching entry.
The second form, pfexec -P privspec, allows a user to obtain the additional privileges awarded to the user's profiles in prof_attr(4). The
privileges specification on the commands line is parsed using priv_str_to_set(3C). The resulting privileges are intersected with the union
of the privileges specified using the "privs" keyword in prof_attr(4) for all the user's profiles and added to the inheritable set before
executing the command.
USAGE
pfexec is used to execute commands with predefined process attributes, such as specific user or group IDs.
Refer to the sh(1), csh(1), and ksh(1) man pages for complete usage descriptions of the profile shells.
EXAMPLES
Example 1: Obtaining additional user privileges
example% pfexec -P all chown user file
This command runs chown user file with all privileges assigned to the current user, not necessarily all privileges.
EXIT STATUS
The following exit values are returned:
0 Successful completion.
1 An error occurred.
