I cannot duplicate your problem. There has to be something else going on.
Please show us the following:

Can you ftp (binary copy) the xls file somewhere, or copy it to a usb drive, so you can then open it on your PC? -- need to know if the file itself is okay; the only way is to do the above copy. Please DO NOT assume your .xls file on the unix box is okay. It probably is not. It probably has UNIX carriage control, which excel may not like very much.

Adding an attachment as an attachment to mailx

I don't want the attachment embedded in the mail. I would like a file attached. When I do mailx -s "Report, `date +'%D %r` " -r "Notifications" bob@bob.com < /usr/local/bin/myreport.log> /dev/null It gets embedded in my email. I want a file attachment. How do I do that? (2 Replies)

       gsf - archiving utility using the G Structured File library

SYNOPSIS

       gsf [OPTION...] SUBCOMMAND ARCHIVE...

DESCRIPTION

       This manual page briefly documents the gsf command.

       gsf  is	a simple archive utility, somewhat similar to tar(1). It operates on files following one of the structured file formats understood

OPTIONS

   Options
       -?, --help

   Subcommands
