Environment variables don't work that way, they're neither system-wide nor persistent. Child processes inherit copies from parents and that's it. You need to modify a login script/profile/etc to set them correctly in the first place on login.

I'm working on a Solaris 9/Sparc machine and it has the Solaris 10 version of Perl (5.8.8) installed on it, which always requires all kinds of library files that Solaris 9 doesn't come with. I think the best way to do is to uninstall this wrong version and install the correct Solaris 9... (1 Reply)

ant - a Java based make tool.
SYNOPSIS

Like make ant is a tool by which projects can be build. But unlike it, ant is based on Java which means it will run on every platform for
which a Java Virtual Machine is available. This makes it a great tool for building Java software.
By default it takes information from build.xml which describes the targets.
-help, -h
print help on the command line options
