You can skip the cfgadm unconfigure step and proceed to pull out the disk. Nothing would happen. just run devfsadm -C after you pull out and after you put in new disk and cont with your steps.
usually cfgadm is used for scsi disks. V480 uses fcal disk if im not wrong.

Hot swapping disks on V240 - blue light not lit after cfgadm -c unconfigure

Hot swapping a drive on V240. So, I do cfgadm -c unconfigure <disk>. Then cfgadm -al reports disk as unconfigured as expected. format then tells me there is no disk. BUT, blue light does not come on. The CardBus slots in Solaris are hot plug capable. This capability is supported by the PCI hardware specific library /usr/lib/cfgadm/pci.so.1 through the cfgadm command (see cfgadm(1M)).
