while loop and CPU ..
Hello frnds..
i m using while loops in my code.. bec of that my application uses almost 90% of CPU resources.. its not lettin others applications to run..
actually i have to read some signal from serial port... n till i dont get it high or low..
i have to read that signal continuously... its for this reason i m using while loops.

}
someone suggested me to use sleep in the while loop..
i cant use it bec we are workin on realtime systems...
so we usually avoid using delay n sleep....
can anyone help me on this ???
my application is on C++/fedora

Hello Friends,
On one of my Solaris 10 box, CPU usage shows 100% using "sar", "vmstat". However, it has 4 CPUs and prstat and glance are not showing enough processes to justify high CPU utilization.

Hi All,
I wrote one simple for loop shell script which prints number..but this loop is infinite...but its taking lot of CPU (15.7) %. if i am using sleep cmd then cpu usage become 0.4 %. Is there anyway to reduce this CPU usage without using sleep cmd?

I our env there are 5 servers running in one Solaris 10 Sparc machine.
But when i tried for process status using <top> command
I got the following output
load averages: 1.75, 2.18, 2.12; up 134+08:28:49

voice_set_playmode - Adjusts the loop status of the specified voice. Allegro game programming library.
SYNOPSIS

void voice_set_playmode(int voice, int playmode);
DESCRIPTION
Adjusts the loop status of the specified voice. This can be done while the voice is playing, so you can start a sample in looped mode (hav-
ing set the loop start and end positions to the appropriate values), and then clear the loop flag when you want to end the sound, which
will cause it to continue past the loop end, play the subsequent part of the sample, and finish in the normal way. The mode parameter is a
bitfield containing the following values:
PLAYMODE_PLAY
Plays the sample a single time. This is the default if you don't set the loop flag.
PLAYMODE_LOOP
Loops repeatedly through the sample, jumping back to the loop start position upon reaching the loop end.
PLAYMODE_FORWARD
Plays the sample from beginning to end. This is the default if you don't set the backward flag.
PLAYMODE_BACKWARD
Reverses the direction of the sample. If you combine this with the loop flag, the sample jumps to the loop end position upon reaching the
loop start (ie. you do not need to reverse the loop start and end values when you play the sample in reverse).
PLAYMODE_BIDIR
When used in combination with the loop flag, causes the sample to change direction each time it reaches one of the loop points, so it
alternates between playing forwards and in reverse.
