Question fax to printer from unix?

Our HP 11.11 is networked to several printers with fax capabilities.

Is it possible to send a file to be faxed by the printer?

I know that RICOH offers a Java API, but that costs 4500 for 1yr membership and 3000 every year after that.

Thanks.

I read a press release from Ricoh, that said that you can send a fax from your PC (presumably MS Windows) through the printer.
If the software for this function is included with the printer, then you might try writing the unix print file to a Windows share, and then either manually sending the faxes out, or writing a Visual Basic script to automate it.
According to the press release, there is also a web server built into the printer, it may be possible to submit the fax directly to the printer by converting the print file to html.
Either way, you will still probably spend the same money.
