Usually the make and model of the tape drive will show in /usr/adm/messages. Using this information, you should be able to determine the specifications of the drive from the manufacturers web site.
If there is not enough information shown, then you may have to remove the tape drive and find the exact model/serial number information.
The information may also be on the original invoice.
