Dear friend
You can try this method which i will say you it 1 st go your technical support area , try to find your shared string on page , when you find try to change your local string to what you want to change. i will wait your answer if it will be work or no .

Looking back at your first question about how to change what shows at the unix prompt and now at this one along with the fact that you said you're taking an online Unix class.. I'm wondering are you just being curious or are these homework questions?
Either way, your instructor most likely knows your system very well. Have you tried asking him/her your questions? I'm not trying to turn you away at all - I'm just offering a suggestion... |

remember this first and for most.
1) please do not ask homework questions in this forum per our rules. 3) /etc/skel is why you have all the default login environment scripts. when your account is made and you login for the first time. everythign in /etc/skel is copied to your homedir. |

Yes i asked my instructor and he told me you will see .profile file if you use ls -al command. i did and now i got .profile file and i could change my prompt now.
Thank you guys , i am not asking any home work question. as a matter of fact i am reading book and follow the instructions. thanks again and see you in my next question. Abid Malik |
