eth0 at startup/shutdown errors

Linux Caldera 2.4

After installing a D-Link 530-TX+ Ethernet card, I saw many error messages during shutdown.

Procedure:
1. modprobe rtl8139
2. ifconfig eth0 172.16.0.1 up
*NOTE* since the OS didn't detect the modulename at startup, I had to edit a file called /etc/rc.d/rc.local with lines 1. and 2. at the end of the file.
3. After I did this, I noticed many shutdown errors:
nfs: server pid605@samba:/auto not responding, still trying
PCIC not defined in rc.pcmcia
nfs: task 3 can't get a request slot
nfs: task 4 can't get a request slot
rpc: sendmsg returned error 101
rpc: sendmsg returned error 101
rpc: sendmsg returned error 101
.........and so on.

I think that it may be confusing my NIC for a PCMCIA, but I don't know and I really don't know what those error messages mean. Any kind of links or help would be VERY appreciated; this is part of a final project. thanks in advance
