I like vedit for Unix stuff (www.vedit.com) but the best editor of all other stuff is Kedit version 1.5 (www.kedit.com). It hasn't been updated since Jan 1998 but it is the most powerful editor around. It is a full screen editor with a command line. With the sample macros that you can download for free, you can virtually do anything with a file.
